Nominate a Cornerstone:
We want to expand our Cornerstones research to cover the range of places that define New Orleans and our neighborhoods. We hope to collect a full spectrum of nominations from places that have been around for a long time and represent an important segment of local history to new spaces that serve an immediate and cherished purpose in the community and from sites grand in scale and design to unassuming, even humble spaces. Please consider the variety of places we hope to document – sno-ball stands, music halls, club meeting places, neighborhood restaurants – when selecting your special site for our survey. Thank you for joining us in celebrating our city’s everyday monuments and gathering places.
We will be collecting nominations for places you think are New Orleans cornerstones at our spring book release parties. Dates and times for the parties are listed on the Home page. You can also download and print our Cornerstones Nomination Form and mail it to our office:

Cornerstones would like to thank Place Matters – www.placematters.net – a joint project of City Lore and the Municipal Art Society that advocates for New York City’s historically and culturally significant places – for giving us permission to model our survey after their Census of Places that Matter and adapt their nomination form for our use.
